Congratulations to Melanie Rabbets – 2025 Recipient of the Slater and Gordon WLCC Scholarship
The Slater and Gordon WLCC Scholarship, valued at $6500, is awarded annually to one dedicated CNSA member and is designed to subsidise expenses including flights, accommodation, registration, and ground transfers. We are proud to work with Slater and Gordon to make this opportunity possible and to support professional development in cancer nursing.
Melanie is a Thoracic Oncology Clinical Nurse Consultant at The Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre at Westmead Hospital in Sydney, Australia. She completed her Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner in 2020, building on an 18-year oncology career that began in chemotherapy nursing and evolved into her current consultancy role. While at the conference, she will be actively contributing to the global nursing community, participating in the IASLC & ITONF: Nurse & Allied Health Professional Workshop. This workshop focuses on three key pillars: treatment advances, living well with cancer, and breakthroughs in research.
Melanie will return to share her insights at a special webinar — WLCC Highlights and Understanding Dust-Related Disease Claims — on 30 September 2025, from 7:00–8:00pm AEST. In this session, Melanie will present key takeaways from the conference, bringing the latest international research directly to your practice. You can register for this session here.
Following Melanie’s presentation, our partners at Slater and Gordon will provide a practical overview of how they support patients affected by dust-related and occupational diseases. This will include information on patient entitlements, how claims are managed, the additional services available, and real case studies — all followed by a live Q&A.
We thank Slater and Gordon for their continued partnership and commitment to advancing cancer nursing. We look forward to seeing the impact of Melanie’s experience across our community — and to welcoming you at the webinar later this year.
