Cancer Nurses Day

Cancer Nurses Day takes place annually in August and is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution of cancer nurses across Australia.

Since 2024, Cancer Nurses Day has brought cancer nurses across Australia together on the second Thursday of August to celebrate the expertise, compassion and impact they bring to patients, families and communities every day. From regional services to major metropolitan hospitals, community settings and beyond, more than 8,000 nurses have already joined the nationwide celebrations.

In 2026, we mark the final year of our Strong. Skilled. Specialised. campaign, recognising cancer nurses as expert healthcare professionals who deliver specialised care, lead improvements in practice and make a meaningful difference for people affected by cancer. Cancer nurses are strong in support, skilled in practise and secialised in knowledge. However your team chooses to celebrate - whether it's a morning tea, team photo or larger event - we'd love you to be part of Cancer Nurses Day.
