Our podcast series Nursing Excellence in Cancer Care focuses on Australian nursing practice and the care of people affected by cancer. It speaks to one of our most important strategic imperatives - to deliver relevant, practical and accessible professional development for cancer nurses.
Communities of Practice (CoPs) are groups of peers who share a concern or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly. The collaborative learning process of ‘thinking together’ is one of the most meaningful elements of a CoP and what makes it work. Thinking together is conceptualised as people sharing knowledge through mutually guiding each other through their understanding of the same problems in their area of shared interest. Interested in joining in on the discussion? We currently have CoPs for Breast Cancer, Nurse Educators and Nurse Managers/Executives with more coming soon.
We know that the first five years in a profession can be difficult, and that's why we've created a new membership category to support YOU. If you're a nurse in your first five years working in cancer care, you are now eligible to join CNSA as an Early Career Cancer Nurse member for only $100, for 15 months.
Cancer nursing is changing and understanding the dynamics of the workforce is paramount to the CNSA vision of the best possible outcomes and experiences for all people affected by cancer. Our Cancer Nursing Workforce Survey better informs our understanding of what is happening in the workforce and helps shape our policy and advocacy work to advance the needs of the profession. This was the first and only national survey focusing specifically on cancer nurses and provided a fascinating snapshot of the current state of the cancer care workforce in Australia.
