AusCaN - Australian Cancer Nursing Capability Framework

A progression of capability supporting safe, equitable and person-centred cancer care - from graduate nurse to advanced practice.

We are proud to launch the Australian Cancer Nursing Capability Framework - AusCaN - a shared national standard for the cancer nursing workforce, supporting every nurse to deliver their best.

Developed through a collaborative partnership between CNSA and Flinders University, AusCaN defines the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours expected of nurses working in cancer care across Australia.

Designed as a practical, accessible and aspirational resource, the framework supports professional growth, career development, workforce planning and the design of education programs. Whether you are new to cancer care, developing specialist expertise or leading innovation in practice, AusCaN has been developed to support every stage of your cancer nursing journey.
