Join us this Cancer Nurses Day for an inspiring lunchtime conversation with CNSA members and HESTA Nurse of the Year winners Shannon Philp, Sue Hegarty, and 2025 winner Ty Simpson.
In this interactive live Q&A, we’ll explore what drives these outstanding nurses to lead with purpose, compassion and innovation in cancer care.
We’ll unpick how each has pioneered nurse-led models of care that others can lift, shift and tailor – from telehealth programs and surgical recovery pathways to CAR-T education frameworks. You’ll hear how they’ve connected deeply with patients and peers, scaled their ideas nationally, and used their voice to advocate for better care and greater investment. Walk away with practical insights that can inspire change in your own workplace.

Shannon Philp was HESTA Nurse of the Year in 2021, recognised for her contribution to nursing education and patient-centred care, particularly for women with gynaecological cancers. As the first nurse practitioner in gynae-oncology in Australia, Shannon has developed new and innovative models of patient-centred care that have increased access to support and improved the care of women with gynaecological cancers. One of these programs aims to ensure women recover quickly after surgery with minimal complications. As a result of their success, these models have been adopted by other specialties. Please accept {{cookieConsents}} cookies to view this content
