Laura Major

2026 MooGoo Scholarship Recipient

My name is Laura Major, and I am an Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist at The Royal Children’s Hospital. I have worked in paediatric oncology for seven years and feel privileged to support children and families navigating the complexities of cancer treatment. 

My career has been recognised through nominations for research and innovation, reflecting my strong passion for research translation and improving patient-centred care delivery.

My project, 'Changing More Than Dressings', aims to establish a parental-led CVAD Care at Home program through Day Oncology at the RCH, empowering families with greater confidence, independence, and comfort during treatment. 

I hope this model can expand across Victoria; creating meaningful, lasting change for patients and families.

I am honoured to be one of the 2026 MooGoo Postgraduate Scholarship recipients. 

The scholarship will help fund the implementation of this program, while also supporting my long-term goal of becoming an Oncology Nurse Practitioner. 

In 2027, I hope to commence my Master of Nurse Practitioner candidacy and continue leading innovative models of care that improve outcomes and experiences for children with cancer and their families.

Samantha Mee

2026 MooGoo Scholarship Recipient

My name is Samantha Mee and my nursing journey began as an Advanced Endorsed Enrolled Nurse in 2015. I recently completed my Bachelor of Nursing, and for the previous 11 years have been working in a day oncology unit and inpatient ward in regional NSW. 

I discovered my true passion working closely with haematologists during bone marrow biopsy procedures. This lead me to undertaking postgraduate studies with a focus on haematology through the Australian College of Nurses. 

This experience ignited my strong interest in haematology. I am deeply committed to delivering compassionate, specialised care to cancer patients in underserved rural communities and hope to one day establish a dedicated haematology nurse role in our regional centre. 

The MooGoo scholarship will support my studies and help turn this vision into reality.

Imogen Mandall

2026 MooGoo Scholarship Recipient

My name is Imogen Mandall, and I am a Registered Nurse currently working at Icon Cancer Centre South Brisbane. After beginning my nursing career in obstetrics, gynaecology, and primary health care, I recently transitioned into oncology nursing, where I have developed a strong passion for delivering compassionate, patient-centred cancer care. I am particularly interested in symptom management, supportive care, and patient education throughout the cancer treatment journey.

The MooGoo Early Career Postgraduate Cancer Nursing Scholarship will enable me to complete a Graduate Certificate in Nursing, specialising in cancer nursing, and further develop my clinical knowledge and skills.

Dan Marthick-Hone

2026 MooGoo Scholarship Recipient

I am an early-career Registered Nurse currently working in haematology while completing the Graduate Certificate in Cancer Nursing through the University of Melbourne. My experience across haematology and apheresis has shown me how important cancer nurses are in providing education, reassurance and advocacy throughout complex treatment pathways. I am passionate about developing my knowledge and confidence so I can provide safe, compassionate and patient-centred care to people affected by cancer. This scholarship will support my postgraduate study, help me continue growing as a cancer nurse, and strengthen my contribution to the future of cancer care.

Lisa Carson

2026 MooGoo Scholarship Recipient

I have worked in cancer nursing for over 14 years, with experience across chemotherapy, radiotherapy, specialist breast care, and equity-focused roles. I currently work at Bendigo Health as a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse (Early Breast), alongside a project role focused on improving access to culturally safe cancer care for people of refugee background. I have a particular interest in sexual health in cancer care, recognising the significant and often under-addressed impact cancer treatment can have on wellbeing and quality of life. I am passionate about building my knowledge in this field to better support patients and contribute to more holistic cancer care.

Louise Jackson

2026 MooGoo Scholarship Recipient

With over 10 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, I have dedicated the past five years to cancer care, supporting patients and their families through complex and often life-changing diagnoses. My clinical focus has evolved toward prostate cancer nursing, where I now work closely with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) to provide specialised care, education, and support across the cancer journey.

I am passionate about patient advocacy, improving access to supportive care services, and helping men navigate treatment decisions with confidence and compassion.

Emma Whitelaw

2026 MooGoo Scholarship Recipient

I began my nursing career in 2024 as a graduate nurse, completing a six-month rotation on a haematology oncology ward at The Alfred Hospital, followed by six months in respiratory nursing, also at The Alfred. During my time in oncology, I discovered a strong passion for cancer care and supporting patients through some of their most challenging experiences. This led me to return to the haematology oncology ward after my graduate year, when I have since stayed. Alongside my clinical role, I am completing postgraduate studies in Advanced Clinical Nursing (Cancer Care), further developing my knowledge, skills, and commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based cancer care. 

Bassel Ayoub

2026 MooGoo Scholarship Recipient

My name is Bassel, and I work as a Clinical Research Nurse coordinating oncology trials across the lung and gastrointestinal tumour streams in South Brisbane. I was introduced to cancer care as a graduate in 2021 and haven't looked back since. My passion lies in helping maximise the time my patients spend outside the hospital.

I am undertaking a Master of Public Health to broaden my understanding of health communication at the population level and to develop skills in designing, implementing, and evaluating public health programs. The MooGoo Nursing Scholarship will support the completion of my postgraduate studies.
