CCV | Effective Cancer Communication program

Members may be interested in Cancer Council Victoria's Effective Cancer Communication training, a program that aligns strongly with our shared commitment to improving patient experience.

Strong communication is critical for patient experience. The program delivers tailored, evidence-based workshops that strengthen skills, build confidence and improve the experience of every person you support.

These patient-centred workshops are designed for everyone - from staff with minimal patient contact to experienced oncology professionals. Workshops can be delivered online or in person, and scenarios are tailored to your setting and patient group. Through the program, communication is improved resulting in:

  • improved patient outcomes and satisfaction
  • quicker, clearer identification of patient needs
  • more accurate information gathering
  • reduced stress and burnout for staff
  • stronger relationships built on trust.

Case Study:

In 2025, CCV partnered with the Leukaemia Foundation to deliver their 'Listen and Refer' and 'Cancer Communication Essentials' workshops to over 80 staff members. Participants ranged from Membership and Volunteer team members to IT and data administrators, Events and Fundraising teams and Payroll and Finance staff. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive:

“The training gave our employees practical tools and greater confidence to navigate emotionally complex conversations - helping them feel empowered, connected, and supported in their roles.”

Bookings are now open for 2026
