CNSA welcomes Megan Collins CNC from the Liver Foundation Australia to explain the complexities of Liver Cancer and Cirrhosis from a nursing perspective and the nursing support available.
According to the Cancer Australia (2025) 3175 new cases of liver cancer were diagnosed in 2025 and there were 2632 deaths from liver cancer in Australia in 2025. The statistics from AIHW Cancer data suggest a steady increase in the incidence of liver cancer across Australia. Furthermore, 1 in 3 Australians has liver disease (liver foundation).
Given the upward trend in statistics, it is important that cancer nurses across Australia have an awareness of the contributing factors of liver cancer and how to support their patients.
