Step Forward: CNSA Standing Committee Nominations Now Open

Nominations are now open to join our Education and Research Standings Committees, along with two new committees focused on Advocacy and Early Career.

We are currently seeking nominations for:

  • Education Standing Committee (4 vacancies)
  • Research Standing Committee (2 vacancies)
  • Advocacy Standing Committee (new, up to 8 members)
  • Early Career Standing Committee (new, up to 8 members)

These committees provide expert advice, guide priority areas of work, and support CNSA in delivering on its Strategic Plan and broader national priorities.

Education Standing Committee

The Education Standing Committee supports the development and delivery of high-quality education for cancer nurses across Australia.

Key priorities include:

  • Identifying education gaps across the cancer nursing workforce
  • Supporting delivery of programs such as Cancer Nursing 101, webinars and workshops
  • Contributing to the Cancer Nursing Education Portal and learning pathways
  • Ensuring education aligns with the CNSA Capability Framework and workforce needs
Research Standing Committee

The Research Standing Committee provides guidance on advancing cancer nursing research and evidence-informed practice.

Key priorities include:

  • Supporting national research priorities and collaboration
  • Strengthening research capability within the cancer nursing workforce
  • Contributing to position statements and evidence-based resources
  • Supporting translation of research into practice
New Committees to shape our future
Advocacy Standing Committee

The Advocacy Standing Committee will play a central role in shaping CNSA’s advocacy agenda and national voice.

Key priorities include:

  • Informing policy aligned to Australian Cancer Plan and workforce strategy
  • Supporting advocacy on scope of practice, workforce sustainability and nurse-led models of care
  • Identifying emerging issues impacting cancer nurses and patients
  • Contributing to submissions, consultations and stakeholder engagement
Early Career Standing Committee

The Early Career Standing Committee will ensure the perspectives of early career cancer nurses are embedded across CNSA’s work.

Key priorities include:

  • Supporting attraction, development and retention of the next generation workforce
  • Informing education, mentoring and career development initiatives
  • Identifying challenges and opportunities for early career nurses
  • Building engagement and connection across the early career community
What’s involved?

Committee members commit approximately 2 hours per month, including:

  • Email input and out-of-session contributions
  • Attendance at online meetings (frequency varies by committee)
