eviQ Education launches new Radiation Oncology Nursing Course

We're proud to support the launch of Module 1 of the Radiation Oncology Nursing Course (RONC), developed by eviQ Education to provide foundational education for nurses working in radiation oncology. This important resource will strengthen clinical knowledge and skills essential to the safe and effective care of people undergoing radiation therapy.

CNSA members have played a key role in the development of this national course, with strong representation on the Steering Committee. We extend our sincere thanks to Michelle Roach and Margie Hjorth for their contributions to this work, helping ensure the content is grounded in contemporary, evidence-based nursing practice.

The module is now available free online through eviQ Education, and a recording of the official launch held on 8 May is also available. Organisations can integrate the module into their own learning management systems (LMS) by contacting eviQ Education for access files.

Chair of CNSA’s Radiation Oncology Specialist Practice Network (SPN), Kirsten Oataway, welcomed the release of Module 1, noting:

“This resource is an important step forward in standardising foundational training for radiation oncology nurses across Australia. It supports nurses to build confidence and competence in a complex and rapidly evolving area of cancer care.”

This is the first of four modules to be released in 2025. To support successful implementation, eviQ Education will be offering dedicated online training sessions for facilitators. These sessions will include RONC competency assessment tools and facilitator resources to help sites embed the course effectively into practice. Nurses are encouraged to register as a ‘Radiation Oncology Facilitator’ on the eviQ Education website to receive training updates.

CNSA congratulates all those involved and encourages members working in or alongside radiation oncology to explore and share this valuable resource.
