Nominations - how to apply?

Each year, CNSA invites members to submit nominations for Life Membership through a confidential peer-nomination process.

***Nominations open Wednesday 1 April and close midnight Wednesday 29 April.***

Life Membership may be awarded by the CNSA Board of Directors to a Full Member who has demonstrated: 

  • Outstanding service to CNSA, and/or 

  • Significant leadership, influence, or advancement within the field of cancer care. 

Life Members: 

  • Are exempt from paying membership fees 

  • Retain Full Member status, including after retirement 

  • Do not require ongoing AHPRA registration 

  • Are recognised for their enduring contribution to CNSA and cancer nursing; and 

  • Are expected to uphold the values and objects of CNSA. 

Nominations are assessed with careful consideration by the Board. 

Who Can Be Nominated

To be eligible, nominees must: 

  • Be a current financial (voting) member of CNSA 

  • Have held continuous voting membership for five (5) years or more 

  • Be recognised for special services rendered to CNSA or outstanding development in cancer care  

Who Can Nominate

  • Nominations must be supported by a proposer and a seconder, both of whom must be voting members of CNSA 

  • All nominations are treated as strictly confidential, particularly if unsuccessful  

  • Nominations may be submitted without the knowledge of the nominee 

Ready to Nominate?

If you know a member whose contribution deserves this highest level of recognition, we encourage you to submit a nomination. 

Before completing the nomination form, nominators are required to: 

  1. Email [email protected] to confirm that the nominee has held continuous voting membership for five (5) years or more 
  2. Once eligibility is confirmed, complete the official Life Membership Nomination Form, including clear reasons supporting the nomination  

Please note: incomplete nominations or nominations submitted after the closing date cannot be considered. 

What Happens Next

  • All eligible nominations received are reviewed by the CNSA Board of Directors 

  • The Board may request additional information to support deliberations 

  • The CNSA CEO will notify the nominator of the outcome 

  • If successful, the nominee will be contacted separately and formally acknowledged at the CNSA Annual Congress

Nomination Process & Key Dates

Life Membership nominations open annually from 1 April to 29 April. 

For the 2026 nomination cycle: 

  • Nominations open: 1 April 

  • Nominations close: 29 April 

  • Board review: 22 May Board Meeting 

  • Nominators notified of outcome: within 5 days of the Board meeting 

  • Successful nominees contacted: within 5 days of the Board meeting 

  • Successful nominees announced: at the CNSA AGM / Congress
