Welcoming our New President
A highly respected cancer nurse academic, researcher and leader, Gemma has made an outstanding contribution to cancer nursing throughout her career. Her extensive experience across clinical practice, education, research and leadership, combined with her longstanding commitment to CNSA, positions her well to lead the organisation into its next chapter.
As President, Gemma will work alongside the CNSA Board, members, volunteers and partners to continue strengthening the profession, advocating for cancer nurses, and advancing high-quality, equitable cancer care across Australia.
When asked what she is most looking forward to contributing to in her new role, Gemma shared a vision centred on connection, collaboration and ensuring cancer nurses have a strong voice in shaping the future of cancer care.
She is passionate about strengthening the links between clinical practice, research, education, leadership and advocacy, ensuring the expertise of cancer nurses informs not only care at the bedside but also the systems, policies and priorities that affect people impacted by cancer.
Gemma is looking forward to honouring the strong foundations established by previous CNSA leaders while creating space for thoughtful progress, innovation, equity and inclusion. Above all, Gemma is committed to supporting a profession that is intellectually strong, clinically grounded and influential in the places where decisions are made.
"Most importantly, I'm excited to work alongside our members, Board and partners to ensure CNSA remains a trusted, collegial and future-focused voice for cancer nursing in Australia, supporting cancer nurses to be visible, influential and ready to shape the future of cancer care."
We warmly congratulate Gemma on her appointment as President and look forward to working alongside her as CNSA continues to champion cancer nurses and support excellence in cancer care across Australia.
