McGrath Model of Care

Catch the recording as we break down the newly developed McGrath Model of Care—a framework that guides the delivery of high‑quality supportive cancer care nursing across all cancer types. Explore how this model strengthens patient support, enhances nursing practice, and sets a new standard for cancer care.

A new McGrath Model of Care is now available, designed to reflect the delivery of high-quality supportive care cancer nursing for any type of cancer.

The McGrath Model of Care:

  • Aligns with evidenced-based practice that is guided by the Optimal Care Pathways for cancer care best practice nursing principles.
  • Captures the voices of people with a cancer experience and their carers.
  • Recognises the expertise, existing information and knowledge from other cancer organisations and healthcare professionals.

The Model was developed with a broad range of stakeholders, including people with a cancer experience, carers, health professionals, cancer advocacy groups and researchers and was supported by a range of expert clinicians, academics and people with a lived experience.

Speaker: Kerry Patford, Chief Nurse, McGrath Foundation

The McGrath Model of Care is a national, evidence‑based framework shaped by real‑world nursing experience. It’s publicly available so Cancer Nurses everywhere can learn from it, build on it, and apply it in their own practice. Click here to access.
