Introducing Our New Board of Directors

At the CNSA Annual General Meeting on 21 June, we farewelled three valued Board Directors and acknowledged their significant contributions to our organisation and the broader cancer nursing community. We are pleased to welcome two new Directors to the Board, along with one returning Director who has commenced a second term. Together, this refreshed Board will continue to guide CNSA’s strategic direction and strengthen our impact for cancer nurses across Australia.

We would like to take a moment to recognise and thank three incredible contributors whose terms on the CNSA Board have come to an end officially after the CNSA Annual General Meeting on Saturday 21 June:

  • Diane Davey, who served over four years across communications, congress and advocacy portfolios—enhancing our voice and helping to position our members, and our organisation, as thought leaders;
  • Margie Hjorth, whose passion for connection, leadership, education and support made a lasting impact;
  • Tracy Pearce, our Appointed Director, who led a thorough review of CNSA’s governance structure and helped shape a stronger, more sustainable organisation.

Following a robust online election run via TrueVote—which closed on 6 June—we’re pleased to welcome the following Directors:

  • A/Prof Gemma McErlean, re-elected for another three-year term;
  • Justin Hargreaves, a Nurse Practitioner leader from Victoria and former Chair of the Cancer Nurse Practitioners SPN;
  • Dr Nicole Gavin, nurse researcher and academic, previously Chair of the VAD&IT SPN and the HSANZ Nurses Group.

We are grateful for the service of our outgoing Directors and excited to welcome Gemma, Justin, and Nicole as we continue our mission to support, empower, and grow the cancer nursing profession.
