Introducing AusCaN - our new Australian Cancer Nursing Capability Framework

Last week we were proud to launch the Australian Cancer Nursing Capability Framework - AusCaN - a shared national standard for the cancer nursing workforce, supporting every nurse to deliver their best. Developed through a collaborative partnership between CNSA and Flinders University, AusCaN defines the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours expected of nurses working in cancer care across Australia.

Designed as a practical, accessible and aspirational resource, the framework supports professional growth, career development, workforce planning and the design of education programs.

Whether you are new to cancer care, developing specialist expertise or leading innovation in practice, AusCaN has been developed to support every stage of your cancer nursing journey.

Over time, additional resources to support implementation will be introduced to further support nurses, educators, managers and organisations in embedding the framework into practice.
