Congratulations to our #CancerNursesDay Photo Competition Winners!
One photo stood out for how beautifully it captured this year’s theme of Strong, Skilled and Specialised. Congratulations to our winners at The Adem Crosby Centre, Sunshine Coast University Hospital!

Their photo embodied the strength, skill and specialised care that cancer nurses bring to patients, families, and communities every day. Congratulations to the team – we hope you enjoy your well-deserved celebration!
Here's a few others that we enjoyed seeing come through on the day.
We also received this Ode to Cancer Nurses Day. A big thanks to Colleen Booth for sharing with us through our social media channels.
An ode to Cancer Nurses Day!
The morning starts with a rush and doesn’t stop,
The pace of this place is over the top.
Patients lining up since the crack of dawn,
As the nurses roll in with a coffee and a yawn.
New patient on Taxol, you’re in for a ride,
Keep that reaction kit close by your side.
Fever of 40 and systolic of 80,
No wonder you’ve been feeling so shady.
Thought you’d wait to see us instead?
Well buddy you’ve just booked yourself a bed.
We stop for a moment to meet for a huddle,
And usually leave with our tears in a puddle.
Every day we hustle, dodgy IV poles, no chairs,
Avoiding the cranky patients and their angry stares.
Day in, day out, we do it for others,
For the patients, their partners, their children and mothers.
Our days blur into the next, going by in a flash,
Patients with no veins and a funky new rash.
Sometimes we ask “why did we start?”,
But these patients will hold us forever in their heart.
They will never forget you, and all that you give,
So they can embrace the life they want to live.
Years from now, you may have forgot,
But trust me when I say… They will not.
You are heroes to many and I mean it when I say,
Have a wonderful, happy, kickass cancer nurses day.
