BLENREP: A new option for RRMM at first relapse
This webinar explored BLENREP as a treatment option for relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma at first relapse. The session focused on the Australian treatment landscape and practical, nurse-focused strategies to support patients receiving BLENREP in clinical practice.
The session was praised for making complex clinical trial data accessible, including a clear explanation of Kaplan-Meier curves and how to interpret the data in a way that supported learning without oversimplifying. It also offered strong patient-focused nursing considerations, including practical assessment tips and supportive care strategies.
ADCs unpacked: How they work and what’s next in oncology
Antibody-drug conjugates are an important and rapidly evolving area of cancer treatment. This webinar unpacked how ADCs work, where they fit in oncology treatment pathways, and what they mean for cancer nursing practice.
The use of case studies helped bring the topic to life, particularly in understanding how ADCs fit within treatment sequencing. The session also provided practical advice for nurses educating patients about toxicities, including what to monitor, how to manage side effects and when patients should seek help.
For nurses wanting to build confidence in newer therapies, this is a valuable recording to revisit.
Cancer survivorship: Allied health and nursing approaches, with a focus on head and neck cancer
Delivered in partnership with the Australian Cancer Survivorship Centre, COSA, Head and Neck Cancer Australia, Cancer Council and CNSA, this session focused on survivorship care for people living with and beyond head and neck cancer.
The webinar highlighted practical nursing and allied health approaches to strengthen multidisciplinary care, with a focus on the long-term, late and ongoing impacts of cancer and its treatment.
A standout feature of the session was the inclusion of the patient voice, which offered powerful and insightful perspectives on the lived experience of survivorship. The panel discussion also provided practical reflections for nurses working in follow-up care, supportive care, rehabilitation, care coordination and survivorship.
Delirium in people with cancer
Delirium can have a significant impact on people with cancer, their families and the broader care team. This webinar examined risk factors, causes, prevention strategies and the importance of early recognition across the cancer care continuum.
The session reinforced the importance of screening at-risk individuals, including those attending oncology day units and other cancer care settings. The lived experience shared by a family member was particularly powerful, highlighting the profound impact that unrecognised delirium can have on patients and families.
This is a practical and important recording for nurses across all settings, particularly those caring for older people, people with complex needs, and people receiving intensive or palliative cancer care.
Genetic mainstreaming: Who to test, how to consent and how to embed into routine care
This Tune in Tuesday webinar explored genetic mainstreaming in breast cancer care, including how to identify eligible patients, support clear and effective consent, and embed testing into routine clinical pathways.
The session highlighted the role of nurse-led models in improving access, equity, clinical decision-making and system efficiency. It was well presented, practical and highly relevant to contemporary cancer nursing practice.
This recording is a valuable resource for nurses interested in genomics, service redesign, nurse-led care and improving timely access to genetic testing.
Cancer Nursing 101: Clinical Trials
As part of the Cancer Nursing 101 series, this session provided a practical introduction to clinical trials and the nurse’s role in supporting safe, informed and compassionate care.
The webinar explored how clinical trials work, how patients are recruited, what participation involves, and how nurses support people throughout the trial journey.
This session is a great foundational recording for nurses new to cancer care, as well as those wanting to refresh their understanding of clinical trials and the important role nurses play in helping patients understand their options.
