CANDIDATE: Kirri Loveday

CNSA Board of Director Elections 2026

Candidate Statement

I am an experienced Site Manager at Icon Cancer Centre with over ten years of management experience in cancer and healthcare services. I hold a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and bring a strong blend of operational leadership, financial management, and clinical governance expertise that enables me to actively contribute to the governance and strategic direction of the CNSA.

In my current role, I am responsible for the leadership and management of multidisciplinary clinical teams, service delivery, and operational performance within a complex and highly regulated cancer care environment. I have a strong understanding of clinical governance frameworks, risk management, accreditation standards, and quality improvement processes, ensuring care delivery is safe, effective, and patient‑centred.

From a management and finance perspective, I have significant experience in profit and loss (P&L) management, budgeting, workforce planning, and resource allocation. I regularly balance clinical quality outcomes with financial sustainability, contributing to strategic decision‑making that supports long‑term organisational viability. This experience enables me to add value to governance discussions related to financial stewardship, service growth, and risk oversight.

My background in nursing leadership provides me with a deep understanding of cancer care from a clinical perspective, which informs my executive decision‑making. I am well‑placed to bridge the gap between frontline nursing practice and organisational strategy, ensuring that governance decisions reflect the realities of clinical care, workforce capability, and patient experience.

Overall, I bring strong leadership, governance awareness, and strategic insight, supported by sound financial and clinical knowledge. I am committed to contributing thoughtfully and constructively to the CNSA, supporting its strategic objectives and advancing high‑quality cancer nursing practice and patient outcomes.

Brief overview of current and/or previous contribution towards the CNSA and/or cancer control:

I have contributed to cancer control through extensive experience as a cancer nurse across both public and private healthcare settings. My clinical background includes working in day oncology services, where I provided direct care to patients undergoing cancer treatment and supported them through assessment, treatment delivery, symptom management, and education.

Working within multidisciplinary teams, I gained strong experience in evidence‑based oncology practice, care coordination, and adherence to safety and quality standards. This exposure strengthened my understanding of patient‑centred cancer care and the critical role nursing plays in achieving optimal clinical and psychosocial outcomes for people affected by cancer.

In addition to frontline clinical care, my transition into leadership and site management roles has allowed me to contribute more broadly to cancer services and system improvement. I have supported cancer nurses through professional development, clinical governance, and workforce leadership, ensuring safe practice, continuous quality improvement, and alignment with best‑practice standards in oncology care.

My experience across diverse care environments has provided me with insight into the challenges and opportunities within cancer service delivery, including workforce sustainability, care coordination, and access to high‑quality treatment. These experiences align closely with the objectives of the CNSA and support my ongoing commitment to advancing cancer nursing practice and improving outcomes for people living with cancer.
