Dr Karin Plummer

Dr Karin Plummer is a paediatric nurse researcher, Senior Lecturer at Griffith University, and Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of Anaesthesia and Pain at Queensland Children’s Hospital, Australia. Her internationally collaborative research program focuses on improving pain management, symptom control and supportive care for children with cancer by advancing shared decision-making, implementation science and digital health.
Supported by a Kids' Cancer Project Research Fellowship, Dr Plummer is leading the development and evaluation of innovative digital decision support interventions for families of children undergoing haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Her broader research integrates artificial intelligence and extended reality technologies to improve symptom management, enhance family-centred care, and accelerate the translation of evidence into paediatric oncology practice.
Dr Plummer is a recognised leader in paediatric pain and oncology, serving as Chair of the Australian Pain Society Scientific Program Committee and Paediatric Pain Special Interest Group and Chair of the Australian and New Zealand Children's Oncology Nurses Research Group. Through her research and leadership, she is committed to partnering with children, families and clinicians to develop evidence-based models of care that improve outcomes and experiences for children with cancer and their families.
