This session will provide practical insights into the intersection between oncology and cardiology, highlighting strategies to support patients at risk of treatment-related cardiac complications and optimise long-term survivorship outcomes.
Join us for an engaging evening exploring the evolving field of cardio-oncology, where advances in cancer treatment and cardiovascular care intersect.
As cancer outcomes improve and novel therapies become increasingly complex, recognition and management of cardiovascular risk has become an essential component of comprehensive cancer care. Hannah Burrell, Nurse Practitioner, Mid North Coast Cancer Institute, will discuss cardiac risk assessment and screening in oncology patients, with a practical focus on identifying patients at risk of treatment-related cardiotoxicity.
We are also delighted to welcome Dr Lavinia Spain, Medical Oncologist, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, who will present "New Frontiers and Dangers in Immunotherapy", exploring the rapidly expanding role of immunotherapy in cancer treatment, emerging toxicities, and the potentially life-threatening cardiovascular complications clinicians need to recognise.
This event offers an excellent opportunity for health professionals to enhance their understanding of cardio-oncology practice and improve multidisciplinary care for patients living with cancer.
