Cancer Nurses Society of Australia

Welcome to the Cancer Nurses Society of Australia website. The original site was launched in November 2002 and this new site is testimony to the growth of CNSA.

The Cancer Nurses Society of Australia (CNSA) was founded in 1998. Its beginnings were in the then Nurses Group of the Clinical Oncological Society of Australia (COSA). Today CNSA stands as an independent body for cancer nurses in Australia. CNSA is committed to achieving and promoting excellence in cancer care through the professional contributions of nurses. The CNSA acts as a resource to cancer nurses around Australia, no matter what their geographical location or area of practice. The CNSA is the link between cancer nurses in Australia, the consumers of cancer nursing services, and other health professionals involved in cancer care.

CNSA is a member based organisation and today we have over 1000 members throughout Australia. A National Executive Committee that comprises elected representatives from all states and territories, and a nationally elected President govern CNSA. Contact details for the National Executive Committee can be located on this website.

A highlight of the CNSA calender is our Annual Congress. This is a two day scientific meeting where nurses have an opportunity to hear about research and practice issues related to cancer nursing. CNSA held its first Annual Congress in 1998, and it has grown each year. It is a wonderful opportunity to catch up with old friends and meet new ones.

As a cancer nurse there are many ways to be involved in CNSA. We have both regional groups and specialist practice networks. Information on these groups and their activities can be found on the navigator bar. CNSA has also established standing committees, such as the Education Committee and the Research Committee, for core areas of activity, as well as special project teams that are set up from time to time to undertake short term projects for CNSA. Information about CNSA standing committees and our current project teams can also be found on this website.
